Migrant Information Centres (MICs) located at the district headquarters in all the 30 districts of Karnataka are the first points of contact for prospective emigrants. The MICs are housed in the sub-offices of the
Department of Employment & Training (DET), specifically in the DET’s YES Centres. The MICs -
- Act as the initial/first point of contact for all prospective emigrants, including for general enquiry, registration of candidates and grievance redressal
- Implement Information Education & Communication (IEC) campaigns at the village/taluk level to create necessary awareness on safe, legal and humane migration and motivating youth at large to visit the Centres
- Disseminate information on documents required such as Passport, Visa, Contact and other necessary documents, to the prospective emigrants
- Register & collect demographic, education and employment details of prospective emigrants
- Counsel and advise potential emigrants on skills & migration matters; answer all their queries
- Furnish reports periodically to the concerned MRC at the divisional level and the MSC at the State level
